The most perfect elopement of 2021.

A month or so back I shared a little about this elopement, but this day was too special to not mention again.
On a sleepy Friday evening I randomly answered a Facebook message by a fellow industry friend who wanted some behind the scenes social media footage of a photo shoot she was working on the next day. Nothing makes me happier than helping out someone in the business with a passion project, so I happily signed up with no idea of who, what, or where she was shooting. Knowing what I do of Hilary Moore- I knew it would be an adventure of sorts and I enthusiastically agreed.
I arrived to a local storefront, donned in a beautiful floral installation where a woman a couple was dressed like they just walked out of a magazine cover. Donning a sparkling dress, and a perfectly tailored suit were Amanda & Greg. Who, as it turned out were eloping - Hilary both photographing and officiating.
For two hours on a random Saturday morning I followed two strangers around in the rain, sharing their most intimate of moments. I was just in the background doing what I do at events- carrying what needed to be carried. Popping out my phone at an opportune moment to play a song to set the mood. Having a random item on hand when needed. Walking the dog. You know, normal stuff.
I always say that the reason I love to create events is that no celebration regardless of size, budget, venue or guest count is undeserving of pure magic. And this was one of the most magical days I've experienced to date.
In front of a canvas of the city - they professed their love outside a storefront, signed their marriage certificate on the sidewalk, danced in the street and started their forever surrounded by passersby and laughter. To the sound of Taylor Swift playing out of my jeans pocket - they toasted cans of PBR, and sang lovingly to one another avoiding the puddles as Greg swayed Amanda about. As we walked Hilary captured the beauty and randomness of their place, their home- a friend hanging out their car window shouting well wishes, a couple enjoying coffee on their balcony recognizing the couple from the street. Their dog wore a coordinated bow tie. It could not have been more perfect.
As a fellow COVID bride, I have the first hand experience of knowing what it's like to set your celebration on a shelf and reshuffle your plans. What this day reminded me of though is that at times of uncertainty when you're not sure what will come next- - God, The Universe, and even Mother Nature are coming together to be your event planners in the background. Cheers and congrats to my new friends, Greg & Amanda.
And to Hilary, may your boundless imagination continue to take you the most wonderful of places - thank you for making me a small part of this one.
